Audit’s LinkRisk Score Explained
The Audit app is based around an algorithmically calculated score we call the LinkRisk score.
- The LinkRisk scale runs between 0 and 1000.
- All links start with a score of 500 – Neutral. A nofollowed link is classed as neutral. A disavowed link is classed as neutral. Any links that we do not feel are negatively impacting your sites risk are classed as neutral, for example a link that is not active when we crawled the page is classed as neutral.
- The links coming in to your site directly affect your LinkRisk score – both positively and negatively based on over 100 interlinked and dependant factors.
- The algorithm takes into account a multitude of onpage and off page signals to determine how “risky” the link is.
- The higher your LinkRisk score, the more likely you are to fall foul of a future algorithm update.
Adding link data to a profile
You add your own link data to a Kerboo Audit profile. Once you have added all of your link data Kerboo will recrawl, analyse and score each and every link within the dataset. For this reason running an Audit profile is not instant. We will email you as soon as all links are crawled and scored. If you upload a profile with over 250,000, it may take 1 hour – Sometimes longer, often sooner – It all depends on the formatting of and the nature of the data you upload to the profile.
The more link data you add, the better indication the algorithm will give you on the risk factors you are facing. Always remember, your link profile is a fluid entity. Servers go down and come back up, not every data source contains every link.
By gathering all data sources from the start and utilising the daily link imports feature combined with regular rescans ensures you will have as clear a picture as possible. If you are running a manual penalty or penguin recovery project you have to gather all data sources you can.
If you are unsure please get in touch to discuss our managed service and we can help you out.
The Audit User Interface
We’ve worked hard to make the user interface easy to understand so that you can quickly and easily audit and analyse link profile data. We base a lot visuals on our donut charts with consistent and easy to see at-a-glance visuals for each segment of data. Click a segment, view that data in the table below.
The profile control panel contains access to a lot of information related to the profile with reports and filters help you navigate the link data. Easily analyse large profiles within the Audit and Investigate apps, export to .csv or pull the data direct via our API.
Audit credits explained
The credit system for audit is based around how many URLs we need to crawl. A website may have 100 referring domains and show 7,500 URLs. This will use 7,500 Audit credits to complete.
If you are unsure what the size of the dataset is for a file you are uploading, run a sample report this will take the first 100 unique urls and generate a quick report to show you how much a full report costs. You will then be given the option to upgrade the profile to a full report and you can see how many credits it will take to complete.
You can upgrade your package at any time should you need more credits than your current allowance.
Daily imports and profile rescans also use credits on Audit.
Our Plus package allows you to crawl 2 million individual URLs.
